Mmmm.....cupcakes!

Okay - so maybe a baby isn't the only person who'll wear a dorky hat - presenting my sister, Mickey, who begged me for a cupcake hat after seeing one I made for my niece (and hoping she'll forgive me for posting such a bad pic of her!)

Knitted with Bendigo wool mills 12ply it was a nice quick knit. From Chile Con Yarne's Cupcake hat pattern - http://http://rsveverka.com/chileconyarne/?p=25 The only change I made was to cast on 88 st instead of 80

And here's one I prepared earlier

My gorgeous neice's birthday outfit - as you can see she was turning 5 and needed an outfit to wear to her party - I sewed the skirt up and appliqued a tee to match. Alanah was thrilled.

And an action shot - the skirt's a bit long but that's what happens when your try to make clothing for someone who lives on the other side of the country!

I have a blog

After drooling all over other blogs for the past few months I decided to create my own - no where near as fancy but a blog to keep track of ideas and creations none the less. The most recent knits are two little beanies for a friends brand new baby boy:

Knit with Spotlight basics wool it's lovely and soft. This was my second attempt with hand dying with food colouring and I love how the colours and how it's striped.

And this one is obviously the Shrek hat. I really wanted to try knitting a Shrek hat and who better to knit it for than a baby who doesn't care if you put stupid hats on him! I'm rapt with how this turned out - knit with el cheapo acrylic 'cos it was the only green yarn I could find.
I popped these in the post today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they fit since I made up the patterns as I went. I guess he'll always have some cute hats for his teddies if they dont :P
